I'm just guessing here--(I'll probably laugh later when I'm wrong xP):
1. maybe their father just up and left the family without saying much.
2. Either that, or he's a workaholic that always seems to be away on business trips (that would explain why they have such a nice television, and why their mom is always being able to bum around the house).
maybe both 1 and 2?

I'm pretty sure that fuuka was breaking the 4th wall in the first panel. It was set up like some dramtic scene in the last page and then she tells the readers that it's not true. Maybe asagi just resents her dad for some reason.

Yeah...both Fuuka AND Ena broke the fourth wall. They stared right at us, for Yotsuba's sake. xD
