The creato mustve created two different versions and had to decide which was better. So he chose this one for the original creation. And the ADV for America. Either that or he knew Americans liked physical comedy.

Nah, the way it works is that when Azuma collects the individual stories together for release in a tradepaperback he sometimes reworks pages or changes them entirely. This would've just been one of the pages that he decided to change. If you can find the Japanese trade of this, then you should be able to see that its' the same as the American one.
