In manga and cartoons, authors usually wanna draw a character with a simple and easy-to do design for their own benefits. Besides, it makes it easier for the readers to recognize the character, and creates a sense of pattern in the manga.

Yotsuba's interests and fads change really quickly. Remember UNDERSTORMED? That dissapeared pretty quickly. She's only 5. She's bound to have a very short attention span.
